Gulet, Motor Yacht, Sailboat or Catamaran: Which One Suits You?
The boat you choose defines the character of the holiday. Here are the four main types side by side.
Gulet
The traditional Turkish wooden boat. Wide decks, a large dining table and plenty of cabins, always with a crew. The best option for larger groups and for blue cruises. It is slow (7–9 knots) — but slow is the point.
Motor yacht
Fast and comfortable, ideal for groups who want to visit several bays in a single day. Fuel consumption is high: it makes sense for short day trips, less so for long routes.
Sailboat
For those who want contact with the sea: quiet, economical and eco-friendly. Cabins are smaller than on a gulet and you feel the heel more. Best for groups with sailing experience, or who want to learn.
Catamaran
Twin hulls mean very little rolling — the first choice for anyone worried about seasickness. It offers a wide saloon and deck area and can enter shallow bays. It costs more than a monohull of the same length.
